Today is a great day. Not just for me, but hopefully for the whole WordPress community: the sustainability team for WordPress has officially been formed. 🥳
A year after Nora have asked the question whether the WordPress (WP) community should do something dedicated about sustainability and the #sustainability Slack channel has been created, an official team was set up at WordCamp Europe Athens 2023.
I’m so excited. I believe that the whole community will benefit from the team’s mission ‘to embed sustainable practices into the WordPress community and its processes’ and to ‘focus on ensuring longevity: socially, economically, and environmentally’.

I am lucky to have been there from the beginning, contributing my small part to the initiative. I was happy to able to learn how the team has evolved to become an official team. I hope that many of you will join and contribute many great ideas. I look forward to learn from all of you and make a tiny contribution to making WP more sustainable.
